My car was towed from my apartment complex because of expired tags. The car is not drivable and I’m planning to sell it ASAP but right now I need to get it back from the tow lot (Shanks) ASAP so I don’t get charged additional fees for having it there multiple days. I don’t know where to move it to when I get it back because it would probably be towed again if i take it back to my apt. My friends all live in apts or places with limited street parking so I dont have a house I can put it at. Is there anywhere in the richmond/glen allen/henrico area that I could park it for a few days without being towed? This is a long shot but any ideas are truly appreciated

If you go onto Belvediere Road after the highway entrances, there will be a 2nd, smaller road off to the side as you come up to Broad Street. Sometimes, when I am in a similar pickle, I will park my car in the parking area between Marshall and Broad street, up next to one of the VCU dorm buildings. I have yet to notice any signs making it clear how long I'm allowed to park there. As far as I'm aware, if you can find a spot in that area I don't think you'll have any trouble.

The only problem with that is OP's expired tags. You can't legally park a car on a public road with dead tags otherwise they can start to amass tickets, and eventually get towed...

...OP, even though your car doesn't run, you can still go to the DMV and renew the tags.

Thats a good suggestion I probably will try to renew registration at least but it would probably still be considered illegally parked since inspection is expired and it definitely would not pass inspection

Thank you for the suggestion! Would it be accessible for a tow truck? I am going to have to get it towed to wherever I move it because it doesn’t drive

Maybe get a DMV temporary trip permit and put it in the window. Good for 3 days, costs $5

Pretty unethical but works in a pinch. Park in hospital parking deck.

If you put it in a pay garage it won't get towed

If this is a sell it for parts you can probably have it picked up directly from the yard

Put it on 19 th in shockoe. There is a motorcycle there with tags expired in 2020 that they haven't touched
