Certain places down there tend to get their liquor licenses suspended or revoked for what happens at or peripherally to their establishment, i.e. violence assumed to be related to over serving. It's also assumed that younger clients are the main offenders of such actions. To try to prevent that, you have armed guards, age limits, and strict dress policies.

Places like this don't typically last long after events like this happen as well as implementing those restrictions.

Ace is new. They’re probably trying to learn from the last establishment’s mistakes.

Given their proximity to the murder Exxon + reading their reviews, it seems:

  1. they are an attractive spot for the kind of people who hang out at murder Exxon

  2. they do not want said people patronizing the establishment

I respect it tbh

The place across the street Stadium also told someone I know who had just moved here to politely leave after he finished his one beer.

I remember driving past some little place on Semmes that had an age limit of 35 after 9pm (or something along those lines). The weirdest thing I've ever seen.

I’ve been there once to help a friend during an event. It’s mostly a nightclub/lounge space (a pretty large main bar, a hookah room with another bar, a semi-outdoor seating area, a couple of those “skill games” for some reason).

I don’t think the security is a response to any particular event; just a preventative measure which is probably appropriate given the location.

Ummmm fights break out there consistently, not so sure about brunch times I think your good but the nightlife factor is why they have security. It is a good time though
