Has anyone had any luck contacting Department of Public Utilities? I sent in a ticket in January, had 2 responses, then crickets. I've e-mailed and called and now I've been on hold for going on an hour and 40 minutes.

If you want to get anything done in this city, you have to go in person. It's pathetic, but it builds a sense of community...or something.

You can always try https://www.rva311.com/ depending on your request.
Did it once when my trash can was damaged by DPU workers and it happened in a few weeks.

Go to the 25th St service center.

I was just there today. There are usually only one or two employees in there but they’re helpful and friendly. It seems like they have strange rules… if you’re there in person, they need more documentation than, theoretically, if you were to conduct the same business over the phone (“Theoretically” because it’s impossible to do business with them over the phone). Such documentation would be picture ID, one other ID like SS card or birth certificate, and proof that you are allowed to do utilities business at the property… a lease agreement, proof of ownership, etc.
It’s weird and frustrating. It took me the past 10 months to take over the gas bill at my house.

When did you call? I called Gasworks the other week right when they opened and spoke to someone after about 30 minutes on hold.
