Hello Richmonders, my sister is getting married in September and we need a space for the rehearsal dinner. 20-ish people max and we would like it to be a sectioned off space from a restaurant if possible. We are NOT interested in renting out a restaurant either.

A couple restaurants in the area have a started rate for event at 8k, that’s a nope.

Bar Solita has a few sections you can rent out and isn’t a cookie cutter chain restaurant.

Can can has a space in the back that they rent out. They have a separate menu for parties as well.

Our friends had their rehearsal dinner at Savory Grain a few years ago with a similar sized group.

Southbound has a smaller room off the main dining area which you can reserve and they’ll do just passed hors d’oeuvre if that’s all you want. There’s also plenty of parking.

We did lunch and supper and they were wonderful. Full sit down dinner and drinks for 30 and it was about $2500 all in. Great service and beautifully decorated too!

And do you want something turn key or an event space with caterers? Alcohol?

Turn key yes, preferred paired down menu and drinks for the event.

Yes, but we’re not opposed to a mingle and schmooze too rehearsal.

The “game room” at capital ale house is really reasonable. We’ve had a couple work events there for a group of around 20. It’s a side room with a pool table and TV’s and such but it has a few tables and a some standing high tops.

That isn’t a good space for a sit down dinner. You also can’t rent it out privately unless it’s during the day when it’s normally closed. Their back dining room would be the best option and there is no fee, you just have to meet a minimum amount.

You can definitely rent it out privately through their events coordinator at innsbrook. I’ve done it twice and we’re doing it again next month. Also op replied that sit down wasn’t required.

Upper Shirley Vineyard is really pretty and has a private room with a river front view.

Shagbark has a room (actually 2 I think) that's separate. We did an event there and everything was excellent. Highly recommend.

We had ours in September at Linden Row Inn. Small dining room with multiple tables attached to a courtyard where we had a bar set up beforehand. Gorgeous.

Tarrant's West was perfect for us! We had a small wedding party there in October with 25 people. The room rental was $200 and the food and alcohol (beer and wine) was $1600. I think their food pricing went up a smidge from when we booked it.
