I just got some at Publix in carytown this week after not finding it for a while
I’ve had to resort to store brand. It’s not the same but neither are the twinkies and ho hos of my youth.
Stocked up about three months ago when I saw they had to shut down the plant.
They inadvertently brought it on themselves, to some extent, and it is poetic justice. Huy Fong screwed over one of its most important pepper suppliers, Underwood Ranches, in 2017 by deciding not to use them out of the blue after about 30 years of partnering with them. So when you leave yourself without your most dependable supplier, then throw in how COVID affected pepper production and supply, and top it off with weather conditions affecting quality of the pepper supply, you get less sriracha.
I would suggest finding other sriracha or pepper sauces in the meantime. Underwood makes one but it is pricy.
You can read more here about the Huy Fong and Underwood legal battle here: https://news.bloomberglaw.com/litigation/sriracha-maker-must-pay-23-million-to-pepper-farm-in-fraud-suit
As others have said this has been going on for months, I was able to buy a two-pack on Amazon though. Still haven't seen it in stores since I bought those in the summer.
That's some SPICY hot sauce drama! Sounds like Underwood got burned, but Huy Fong is the one who's crying.
I used to live down the street from their factory. People in the surrounding area would complain about the strong smells coming from it when they would cook. I think some folks actually got nose bleeds and headaches from the spice in the air. If I’m not mistaken, they can only operate during specific hours of the day. I believe it was over night for a few hours. I wonder if this an issue that’s affecting supply rn.
I have kept a lookout for months due to the shortage, but I was surprised at a Publix in Glen Allen last week that had like 15 bottles in. I only grabbed one. I had to run back the next day for some reason and they were all gone again. Either other people noticed as well, or someone bought all of them to put up on the web and make some extra cash.
https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/climate-change-may-be-responsible-for-sriracha-hot-sauce-shortage-180980315/ you are not imagining it , we stocked up cause we knew it was coming
Wegmans in Short Pump had a bunch yesterday afternoon.
I found some at World Market a week or so ago
I found some at the Laburnum Kroger a few weeks ago.
I have a bottle unopened for $50 it’s yours
New Grand on Midlo had a bunch last Sunday.
Tan A on West Broad has plenty, but there is definitely a shortage
Why did I never think of this for the 6 months I went without it?
And in midlo. Grabbed 2 the other night.
I was at New Grand today and they had a ton of sriracha.
Yeah, after reading this, I’m inclined to buy it from Underwood anyway now. Fuck companies that abuse small businesses like that.
Wegman’s Midlothian is stocked with it.
We have a Thai grocery?
If you want a good heat, pick up some hot chili oil from your nearest Asian market. It’s become a favorite for practically anything - including putting it on ice cream (seriously)
I just did the same thing ... it's not the same.

Take this as an opportunity to find some KimKim sauce and have that in your life. Made in VA. I think it's what Sriracha would taste like with extra added umami.
Good call. I just bought their three-pack deal after seeing that their prices are $4 lower per container compared to 4 months ago. Your comment lead me to check on their prices again, so thanks!
Edit: clarification
Glad to have helped! Let us know if it's good!
Must be from the same place that makes tater tots.

They’ve been sold out everywhere for MONTHS. There’s apparently a shortage of the peppers they use due to some weather related factors.
