Sort of a random question but I was going for a walk in Scott’s Addition when I smelled something awful. This was on Mctavish between W Marshall and W clay. Look over and there’s a ditch in the ground full of crab shells. Anyone else notice this? What’s up with it? My initial guess is composting.

I'm guessing someone moved here from Baltimore.

You know what. I can actually solve this mystery for you. There is a dude nearby that address that I buy crabs from in the Summertime. I'm guessing he washes out bushel baskets and drainage from rain or whatever ends up in that hole. If you look nearby you'll probably see some Oyster shells. Great crab mystery solved in 31 minutes on /rva.

Man, I ride my bike up that block most days. On really hot mornings this summer it'd smell like fish on that block and I have wondered why. Sometimes I will still notice it but to me it was most noticeable in July/August.
