People on this sub are always trying to rehome found cats. I think you found a "natural" solution

Unfortunately I have tenants on the 2nd floor and they didn’t like the cat idea 😅

The cat is only temporary. Once it kills/scares away the squirrels, you stick a stray dog in the attic to deal with the cat
