4th time he's been back here looking for another manager. I've already reported him twice now. I'm sick of this shit I need out.
What places are hiring urgently for anything I don't care what it is.

My former coworker's main job is at one of your locations. He had nothing but good things to say about the place.
Also, your haunted car wash is dope. I plan on going again tomorrow with a full car.
Decorations on forest hill are legit.
Yeah that was fun and now my car is clean.
How does it work ? Do you stay in your car while it gets washed ?
Homie that got scammed by Verizon ?
Yup, seems like an awesome dude, I’ve got him starting Wednesday
Thats wassup man. Ur a good dude /r/jesusismycurseword
Strongly agree

Well let’s talk about it. I hired my crew 18 months ago. Of the original 13, 11 are still with me. Not many retail establishments are having that kind of retention, so I think we’re doing something right. With their bonuses some of my guys make more than their parents some weeks (business is seasonal, so not always the case but it does happen). Three of my team members have been promoted to salaried positions making 50k+/yr. Our tuition reimbursement program is fully funding community college for 3 of them, and assisting another going to VCU. We promote from within and have one of the best work environments I’ve ever been part of. At a car wash. Show me another example of a low-stress job with that kind of upside and then we can talk.
Literally everything I have heard about Tommy's Express is positive.
I support you /u/Jesusismycurseword. I've read this whole thing, and I think you and your crew of reddit users are great! I also took advantage of that free month of car washing you guys gave out a while ago. I appreciate what you are doing!
I’ve met /u/Jesusismycurseword and as someone in a leadership position myself he is solid and has an awesome team that he manages as well as created here locally. I definitely recommend pursuing an opportunity with them.
Really happy to see you consistently hustling and helping others for work in Richmond.
My wife signed up for the monthly at the Tommy's on Boulevard. We've been pretty happy with it, would recommend.
Interested in the new location if OP passes on that opportunity or you need more people!
Smoky Mug on Northside needs a cook. Needs to be able to work weekends.
VA ABC is currently holding hiring fairs, looking for people to assist with holiday demand. Generally a fun, laid-back job. You don't have to deal with upselling credit cards, or deal with the horrors of changing rooms like you do with other retail jobs. You just need to learn the basics of booze. You don't get benefits as a part timer, but there are regular opportunities to apply for management positions, and state benefits are pretty good. Just make sure to apply on the actual ABC website, and not on Indeed. Most stores just get a truck once a week, (not multiple a day like with grocery stores) and you open at 10, and most close at 9, so you usually don't have to come in super early, or stay super late. If you are Northside of Richmond, then you can consider working at the main office or the warehouse. They update the list of available jobs once a week. https://www.abc.virginia.gov/jobs/public/positionOpening_list.do
I have a friend who is full time with ABC, it’s a surprisingly good job. I had never considered that liquor store employees worked for the state.
In Virginia, all liquor is sold by VABC. We have no independent liquor stores in this state. Prices are a little higher in Virginia for the consumer compared to other states but it's a great gig if you can land it. Especially considering VABC stores are pretty much everywhere.
I definitely thought that a state owned liquor monopoly was an interesting quirk when I moved to Virginia, but imagine my confusion the first time I went to Pennsylvania.
I know when I was in college they still had that stupid law where you can only buy beer from distribution centers rather than grocery stores or something like that. Before yeungling was sold in WV we had to drive to Maryland if we wanted to buy it despite the fact there were stores in PA that were literally the next exit up the interstate.
Right now you can buy beer from grocery stores BUT there's a totally separate check out line you have to use to do so. It's sort of a second business operating inside the grocery store and you aren't allowed to mingle groceries/alcohol when checking out.
You can also get them to-go from bars, bottle shops (which I think are technically bars but they're designed to feel like stores), beer distributers, and some delivery apps. It's pretty wacky that you can't buy beer and groceries in the same line at a store but you can order a double whiskey shot at 2 AM for last call and get a six pack to walk out with.
Liquor is still entirely state run. Wine is sold via both liquor and grocery stores (which makes no sense to me unless there's a rule saying wine can be sold outside of state stores if it's below a certain BAC).
Just about any retail and shipping place is hiring right now in preparation for the Christmas season, you could take one of those jobs to earn some cash while thinking about your next step...
...whatever you do, don't take a job at 7-Eleven, especially the one near Grace and Harrison, as that one is robbed at least once every quarter. Good luck!
Is that little burger place in lakeside a good place to work? Lol
Roy's or Carytown burger. The people at Roys seem stressed and Carytown burger seems to go through people especially the cooks a lot. Lakeside wise up all night bakery seem to have the most relaxed staff but maybe they are just tired. There is a new quesadilla place by the farmers market coming. They will be looking to hire shortly.
Maybe they’re stressed bc they’re understaffed?
Quesadilla restaurant is already open.
Yes, Killa Dillas. I had one yesterday.
Can’t add that without reviewing the experience
It was fine. Someone else ordered for me and one of the ingredients got left out, which under the circumstances was understandable. But it would have made a big difference. Quality of the quesadillas was reasonable. Someone else got the nachos which looked pretty uninspiring.
How was it?!
Dci in chester. Warehouse work. Drive forklifts run machines. Advantstaff temp agency.
Heads up, you won't be ready for the flood of pussy thrown your way once you get forklift certified
I am forklift certified and still don't have pussy being thrown at me. Am I doing something wrong?
Yes, you don’t have the decal on the back glass of your truck
Bruh, I don't even have a truck. Damn I am living wrong.
You mean a ton of pussy? The kind you might need a forklift to operate?
Well yeah! Those pocket pussies ain't gonna ship themselves!
Food service is tough work. If you got a ride, looking into OSI restaurants like Bonefish, Carrabbas, Outback might be it. They pay their line cooks fair and if you can reliably tell which end of a set of tongs is the clicky side you'll be set. I know people who have worked for that company for almost twenty years and tbh even though it hurt my pride a little bit, it bailed me out when covid hit so 🤷♀️
And hey, I get it if you don't wanna do food anymore. It'll at least get you through the holidays.
Pretty sure VDOT is hiring statewide. Check out their website. Also hit up u/ericlambert_rvaspark for opportunities within the electricians union. I’m an apprentice in local 26 and it’s been the best career move I’ve ever made. Local 666, your Richmond local, is in need of apprentices. Great wages for the area, pension, retirement, healthcare and representation.
For anyone wondering, they PAY. Especially if you’re willing to do overnights. My little brother’s friend was working for them making like $28 a hour overnights. He got fired for not showing up lol. So there is at least one spot open!
Call the police, I assume you guys have video, and if he'll do this to you he will do it to someone else
I've called the cops 3 times now 😐 they've got his plate and everything
Have you considered a role in law enforcement? Sounds like you're a step up from what we've got
New position just opened up!
If you have decent cooking experience, come apply at fuzzy cactus.
LOVE fuzzy cactus. Not sure about kitchen staff but the waiters and bartenders are so happy and friendly
Well i AM kitchen staff, and i am sure about myself
If you’re on Facebook you could check out Lindsey’s List - I haven’t had FB in a loooong time so I have no clue what state it is in but that’s my only lead.
Sorry to hear about the gun being pulled on you. That’s terrifying.
Virginia abc. Not sure if you’d get benefits but it’s worth a try.
in short, only get benefits if you’re a manager/higher up
Whole Foods near VCU always has positions open
wanna work with lab animals? Cleaning their cages and such.
It's important work.
I need a job too. What’s the story on this?
VCU's hiring animal care techs and cage washers, 15 bucks an hour. easy work but it's alot of dealing with bullshit managment
A lot of places in cary town are taking seasonal workers. I know world of mirth is.
Substitute teacher in Henrico or Richmond and probably Chesterfield.
HCPS teacher here. In spite of massive sub (and all staff) shortages, central office isn’t even calling qualified applicants back. A friend of mine, a certified teacher with 15 years of experience, had to call them 5+ times before they even noticed her application. And that was to sub. Sadly, I would strongly recommend not working in public education in any capacity or role.
Oh man. I’m also a teacher in HCPS. This makes me pretty angry.
Solidarity, fellow teacher. It is insane and inexcusable. In case you haven’t seen yet, we have some important collective bargaining sessions coming up: 11/3 @ 4:30 PM, Fairfield Area Library Meeting Room and 11/7 @ 10:30 AM, Glen Allen Branch Library Meeting Room. Done hijacking the thread now…
I think there’s a cafe on main near right next to VCU opening up that’s hiring.
Wegmans if you’re willing to drive
I know the Roosevelt and maybe Laura Lee’s are hiring—I don’t have much info but more details should be on their Instagram pages.
If you can get down to exit 58, Carvana is still hiring people for various positions.
A lot of Property Management Companies are desperate for techs, I don't know your skill level, but Porters(groundsman) and Make Ready techs both will take you in green. Pays pretty decently, benefits and some companies have nice bonuses.
EAZZY Burger is staffing up.
There’s a new ihop in Virginia center commons that’s desperately in need of a general manager. It’s been almost a year already and I just want an ihop I don’t have to drive all the way to mechanicsville for ;-;
Is the one at willow lawn open? Lol. And that Mechanicsville one sucks. They closed at 3 the whole time I live in Mechanicsville
Henrico Recreation and Parks are hiring and having a job fair 11/1/22 from 4-7pm. Here’s the online link to the applications: link
Full-time positions: Tradesman Storekeeper Groundskeeper Park Services Specialist
Part-time positions: Storekeeper Sports Facility Specialist
Hell yeah! I love the Henrico park system
I’ve worked with them when they were purchasing furniture (because I work in the commercial interior design industry) and everyone I was in contact with during that job was super nice!
Give Aerotek in Scott’s Addition a call. They’ll find you a job and won’t charge you a fee.
ups preloaders or driver helper
Ups / FedEx also tend to do holiday hiring for the increase in demand. Its super early shift loading trucks but if you have an able body it pays semi decent and leaves time for another job during the day. If you have to take a pay cut to get out or reduced hours it would be one way to supplement income
Where did this happen?
Charred on 301
Central State Hospital. You could be a psych tech. Not a terrible job. Benefits good
> Central State Hospital
Petersburg. op not trying to go from bad to worse lol
Hey. At least he (or she?) has been primed.
Vcu dining has lots of positions, starts at 15/hr. PM me and let me know what type of work you're looking for.

All retail is hiring for seasonal work right now immediately - that should keep you going while looking for something you really want. Also, employment agency placement is not too bad for trying out different industries and work environments.
Please take care - I hope you find something soon.
“…Try to pull a gun on me” - did you karate chop his arm off before he could get it out?
Door dash or Uber eats. You do that for a solid few hours and you could make more than you do daily at gunpoint
How did someone " try to pull a gun"?
Yes but will make picking up girls easier.
How does one try to pull a gun? Seems like they do or they don't.
You’ve clearly never been in a tense situation where someone begins to reach in to pull out a gun of they flash you the handle under their shirt.
Oh right cuz we've known each other since grammar school so you'd know everything about me...
Just to be clear, that's not trying to pull a gun out, that's called showing you they are armed.
Wow, good point!!!

Hey I'm hiring immediately for our location in Chesterfield (Tommy's Express). I've hired almost my entire team from reddit, including a guy that posted here last week looking for a job. Chill work environment, pay is $14/hr plus weekly bonuses. I will also be hiring soon for our location that's opening in December in the Broad/288 area. Let me know if you're interested, I will get you in for an interview asap.
