Wtf did the note say??? That’s awful completely deranged behavior

Note Reads: “ Someone’s black cat is trying to get into the house and has a collar. Not sure which house but didn’t want to leave her outside”

That is horrifying. Really hope it’s solved today. I know most cats with owners will not be willingly kept captive in a new house

outdoor cats are really not a good idea

He was originally feral, and we found him under our sink and took him in. That is why he is indoor/outdoor. Trust me, if we could make him an indoor cat we would.

Black cats are targeted this time of year.

If that’s how the note reads are you sure the cat wasn’t trying to get into their house? Does the cat have a collar/tags? Did anyone else get the note?

Because the “not sure which house” makes me wonder if it’s not that the cat was trying to get back into your home but that the cat was trying to get into their (the author’s) house. Which does happen with indoor/outdoor cats especially if they find a second place that will feed them a second time

The note was pushed through our mailbox which implies, hopefully, that they know Little (his name) belongs to us. I just wish they left their contact information or even an address for us to come pick Little up if that was the case.

Little has a collar but no tags, but is known on this block to roam around and allow people to pet him.

I didn’t realize they didn’t leave any contact info at all, somehow I missed that part. I hope it was just a really dumb oversight and they were rushing out of the house or something and that’s why. I hope you get him back soon!

I understand, it's tough. But it's not going to do much for his life expectancy.

I used to be a fan of the concept, but too many dead cats (and dead birds)

I think once he is returned we are going to be keeping him inside moving forward. This is definitely a reality check, but we just want him back :(

Black Rabbit Tattoo posted on their Instagram story earlier about finding a black cat with a bell collar coming in their store. You may want to message them and see if it's the same one.

Since they put it in your mailbox maybe they are on your block? Have you tried visiting your neighbors to ask? I hope you get your kitty back.

Have seen this cat before. That cat does try to go inside people’s houses though and meows like it’s in need of something

I wonder if they wrote it and put it on the sidewalk and someone else slipped it through your door? Maybe they didn’t know who you were or they would have knocked and returned the cat?

Sounds like they were trying to keep it safe since Halloween weekend is really dangerous for black cats.

We heard meowing after some hustle and bustle on the porch

If you find Little isn't adaptive to indoor only life, get a slip-on tag (that slides over his collar instead of hanging down) for his collar and with your phone#, also have it say "indoor/outdoor cat" so people know he's not abandoned! That is what we did with our rescue feral that struggled to adapt.

do you have any outdoor space on your property available for a catio perhaps ? theres lots of different ways to diy them !

Not only that but it is sooooo dangerous in the city for them to be roaming around. I don’t care how smart you think your cat is, anything could happen.

Funny you say that - that’s a different Floyd outdoor black cat! Owners have a mural on the side of their house with his picture, it’s on the 3100 block!
