I am looking for work and was wondering if anyone had positive experience with a specific company/contact in the area? My background is data/technology/project management if that provides any guidance. I know a lot of the bigger recruiting firms really depend office-to-office so was wondering if anyone had had a good experience here. Thanks!

As in internal recruiting where the company has a recruiting division to beat the bushes for talent, or external/third party (aka, headhunters)?

There are probably dozens. A few come to mind: Hayes, Teksystems, Apex, Triumph, Vaco, CapTech, randstadt, Robert half….

Most are contingent search firms where a company sends the job out to a bunch of firms and they’re all able to submit applicants. As a candidate, those type of firms suck because you’re just a body to them and when it become clear that the hiring firm found other candidates they like, the contingent firm will just stop communicating with you.

If you can get hooked up with a retained recruiter, you’ll have a much better experience as the job posting only goes to that one recruiter. Lori Jennings is the top “retained recruiter” for technologists in Richmond, she knows EVERYONE. https://www.jenningsprosearch.com

I work in tech so I'm frequently contacted by both in house recruiters and headhunters. As yet every one of them has been hiring for jobs outside of the Richmond metro region.
