Hi all,

I am flying into RVA airport Saturday morning and leaving the next Sunday morning at 6am - quick turnaround for a funeral. Trying to save some money, i did not book a hotel. My plan is to hang out with family until as late as possible on Saturday night, then hang out at RVA airport until my 6am flight Sunday.

Hows the airport in the middle of the night? Is it open enough to have accessible bathrooms? Probably all i need - I'll nap on a chair or the floor if needed.

Thanks!

EDIT: Thank you all SO much for the great info! it is exactly what i needed and has calmed my anxiety a bit :) Thank you!

EDIT 2: Thanks u\rvafun100 for this link: https://www.sleepinginairports.net/guides/richmond-airport-guide.htm#more

Bathrooms are open but you probably won’t be able to get any food or drinks. You may want to stop at the Waffle House or one of the gas stations just outside of the airport to get food.

When you arrive, check out the circular area of couches at the intersection of concourse A and B....the area just outside security. I think that this is your best bet to hang out for a couple hours. Security opens at 4 a.m.

If you're looking to stay in the terminal, keep in mind that TSA closes at 8. Got fucked one time when a flight got delayed to 11:30pm. Got to the airport around 9:30-10:00 only to find out that TSA was already closed...

The airport is open, there are bathrooms available on the sterile and non-sterile side. Airlines usually start up around 4am, along with TSA checkpoints.

If I were you I would sleep on your family's couch if they're letting you stay late Saturday night

Great question, I'd been thinking about this for myself as I've got a buttcrack-early flight in January (probably boarding at 5:30am).
