Much more walkable than Maymont - my father has mobility issues and he did great this year, while I would never consider taking him to Maymont. Lewis Ginter also has wheelchairs, those sit/stand walkers, and double strollers for rental on first come first serve basis. It’s a lovely event and a great night out. There are many places throughout the park to stop and rest for a moment, and two indoor buildings worth exploring (the main greenhouse with Christmas tree, and the library with a model train display). And the treehouse mentioned on this thread is closed for renovations anyway so don’t worry about that

I will add that some of the paths are a little dark IMO, if low visibility would be a problem for you.

It’s much more accessible than Maymont. Ramps in almost all the places that have stairs. The path lighting isn’t great but it does exist. Much more accessible than other parts and events in town.

I brought two older relatives with knee/arthritis issues to Lewis Ginter this summer. They did take a couple of breaks but had a wonderful time.

Went over the weekend. Lots of strollers, wheelchairs, etc. very mobility friendly.

When is the least crowded? After Christmas and New Years? Weeknight?

Weeknights before winter break starts aren't bad, and it's basically empty after the new year.

Can you bring a little flashlight to help with visibility?

There are definitely sections that will be more difficult for you to access, but I'd say 70% at least is accessible. It's worth noting that there are several retirement communities and nursing homes very close to Lewis Ginter, and they have a lot of elderly volunteers and employees. A lot of their frequent visitors have mobility difficulties, either from age or other reasons, and they have mostly wider pathways than a lot of similar places I've seen.

I'm sure that isn't an issue.

You and your son are going to love it :) they also sell hot cocoa and cider and they have an indoor model train setup—that room is slightly crowded sometimes, it’s kind of small, but accessible as well.

Small hills here and there but overall pretty flat. There are some stairs (treehouse) and it’s quite expansive. Generally a nice time out.
