Considering a 1 bedroom there for $1300 a month. Not sure about the area or the actual building itself.

Yea it’s literally right next to it. What’s so bad about it?
It’s the murder Exxon. You want to be nowhere near there after midnight pretty much.
Correct. I live further down in shockoe bottom but would not live in that building. Between crazy traffic to the interstate, murder McDonald’s and exxon, etc. it’s one of the last places I’d live.
I lived there from 2015-2017. The apartments were comfortable, but small - probably the smallest 1 bedroom I ever had. Management was very nice, and the gym was decent. I'll admit that the Exxon was sketchy; I once had a guy point out a bullet hole in the gas pump I was using. The rest of the neighborhood, including the McDonalds, is mostly fine, although I wouldn't hang out outside the clubs when they close at 3 AM.
As far as the apartments there, they are decent. My buddy lived there in a 2br, and amenities were as expected for Shockoe apts and lofts, e.g., nice mid/late 2010s fixtures and fairly updated. Pretty clean and self-contained. Until not too long ago, I also lived in the Bottom, but the location isn’t for everyone. The Exxon is to be avoided late nights and basically the same for McDonald’s. Day to day, it’s probably not an issue, just something to be aware of. Happy TG!
It’s not the property name. It’s the property management company that you need to be the most concerned about. That tells you if it’s good or not.
If you *need* to be in that area, just going one block up to Vida East (20th & E Marshall) or the apartments at 21st and E. Broad would be safer. The downside is the noise from the Murder McDonalds travels uphill.
imo i go to that exxon and mcdonalds pretty frequently and its fine. you're not going to get robbed but you will get hassled for cash (like 10% of the time)... that's like the most that ever happens.
Traffic only sucks there during rush hour.

Is that the building right by the McDonalds and Exxon? Don’t know anything about the building itself but would not recommend that spot
