Seems like the state troopers are crackin down locally. Just saw a white F-150 with lights on the STEP RAILS. Along with the other lights. Runnin around short pump.

Not totally true - I've been looking at buying one with no roof rack. They are out there for people that are not undercover.
Many localities (such as Henrico) have semi "cop spec" fleet Explorers that definitely aren't cops.
[deleted]
There is no crackdown, just new toys for cops.
but at least they look cooler though right? /s
What does “semi cop spec” mean?
New? No side rails?
[deleted]
Incorrect.
Saw a black unmarked explorer with roof rack just yesterday. The short cylindrical antenna is the give-away.
Is there any reason a pickup is advantageous to law enforcement? You can't put suspects in the back (EDIT: as in the bed of the truck) and I'm gonna guess they aren't just tossing a couple rifles back there. Someone tell me they aren't just trying to look cool and (in most cases) manly....
That's a good tell that I look for. Even if it turns out to be average Joe citizen, I'd rather slow down and let them pass then get a ticket.
Reread what they wrote. "No roof rack = Cop" is not the same thing as "Roof rack = not cop"
Idek if what they're saying is true, but you're not applying an accurate contrapositive.
Fair enough
Yes, brand new. I looked at it online last night. I had to do a double take because it looked so weird without it. Normally they are listed on the window sticker and this window sticker didn't have them listed. I am trying to find it again - I looked at a lot last night.
They may have been seized and made in to police vehicles. They do that here in Texas.
No roof rack, steel wheels, etc. Like a cop car with no lights.
It is at Sheehy Ford Richmond. Here is the stock number if you want to go look. GC04412
Huh, guess I heard wrong. Though I will say, every one I’ve ever seen has been an undercover.
Interesting. Well, I’m still gonna be on the lookout for them.
I believe you.
That’s a gps and not just cops have them, but it’s definitely good to look for.
I’m also frustrated with bad drivers, but even more so with cops. I’m voting for speed bumps, traffic circles, and protected bike lanes.
So the advantage is saving money in the budget? I don’t hate that. Figure you get more value out of using it long term than just auctioning it off. And you don’t need a cruiser to write tickets
Cow catchers on the front of cop cars are specifically dangerous and increase risk of death of struck pedestrians. Cops have them because they don’t care about killing civilians, they care about looking cool. So I would extend that and say yeah the trucks are probably just to look cool.
Saving money is cool, stealing from people is not.
Undercover cops dont fix anything. The "Threat" of being pulled over always exists and deters nobody. Clearly labled police cars at least get people to slow down
Lady cop on Pouncey Tract in black SUV, she grabs anyone who turns illegally on it.
Edit: For clarity - There is a female officer who drives in an unmarked Black SUV, mostly on Pouncey Tract, that if you turn without right of way, they will pull you over. The turn at the Burger King and Wal-Mart.

> You can't put suspects in the back
F150s can definitely have rear seating and a 4 door cab.
Guarded bike lanes, too?

I work for Henrico and can confirm this.
It makes it easier for a bunch of cops to jump out of the back all at once to spray innocent civilians with pepper spray.
Sure, sure, I meant why the need for the bed in a police vehicle. I was also thinking there'd be reasons they wouldn't want to use a truck cab to haul folks unless they had to, but not sure.
There’s also unmarked Durango’s, a challenger, and a Camaro.
You know that stuff expires eventually, right? What are they supposed to do, let it go to waste without contacting a citizen's face!?
I guess they are already “guarded” in the same way that the whole city is “guarded” by the police. I’d prefer a jersey barrier since they actually due their job.
oh yeah i see what you're saying. yeah idk they cant keep anything back there because people would steal it.
That’s moreso what i meant by “guarded!” Poor word selection in my OG comment.
You guys have a Buick too right?
I swear I saw a Buick have someone pulled over a couple weeks back
Turns illegally on pouncey tract, what’s that mean?
Sorry I will edit original comment. There is a female officer who drives in an unmarked Black SUV, mostly on Pouncey Tract, that if you turn without right of way, they will pull you over. The turn at the Burger King and Wal-Mart.
Worked in the auto field. Lots of fleet vehicles are sold to municipalities that are made to police spec, but with the cool stuff disabled basically. A few mechanical tweaks and they can be cop vehicles if they had to be
These were spotted along nine mile a few weeks ago
An explorer with no roof rack? When you park it in your garage at night, does the garage have to ask if it’s in yet?
🤦♂️🤦♂️
Saw it parked in the median on Ridgefield just up from Gaskins.
I'm in FFX Co and I've seen our cops in Toyotas and plain white cargo vans
Truck bed is great for moving barricades
Yea i seen the f150 doing radar on the side of the highway a week ago.
....... Why would you call and report an undercover police car?
They’ve been used here as well
can confirm. HPD has one of fucking everything.
Incorrect. Those are low profile radio antenna. The gps is in the stuff that comes from the factory. The fin.
They used to have an undercover corvette too
How am I supposed to drive like a hooligan if I have to watch out for Buicks jeez
> I've been looking at buying one with no roof rack.
soooo ur a cop?
this should be top comment
Undercover cops are just road pirates.
Concur. A Buick just isn’t fair.
Curious here: how tough is it to remove the light bar off the roof of a cop car?
Damn, a LADY cop? They really are getting sneaky.
The state police has had those for years. Once, several years ago, I was getting lunch and saw a huge group of state cops in the restaurant but there were no cop cars outside. When they left I saw them all get into F-150s. Like 6 of them. Definitely eye opening. Since then, I always look out for pickup trucks on the highways.
Nothing is worse than Fairfax. Them fuckers would take drug dealers cars and make em under covers. G wagons, vettes, SS Camaros, mustangs, integras…. It was fuckin insane
I got pulled by her. She read me my rights. She put me in her car, she cut off all the lights. She said I have the right, to remain silent.
Just wait until it’s a minivan or box truck
At this point I just assume anything American is a cop car. Can only trust toyotas/hondas/kias etc lol
Now I got her hollerin , soundin like a siren I’m talkin bout , WEE-OOH-WEE-OOH-WEE, WEE-OOH-WEE-OOH-WEE, WEE-OOH-WEE-OOH-WEE
Yeah I live here in Fairfax county and it’s best to just obey traffic laws between cars you wouldn’t think are police and the overall quantity of god awful drivers here
Ha, not a cop. I just don't need them. I have an Edge right now that doesn't have the roof rack. The Explorer's just look so weird without them so now I'm on the fence.
I drive my minivan (when I don't have the kids) like a hooligan too. Nobody suspects the minivan.
Can’t trust anything apparently.
I’ve seen a minivan with lights on 95.
I actually got pulled over by a minivan with lights years ago. I mean it was the Federal Marshalls but that's another story.
Cops is cops.
I saw an undercover accord when I was in Texas
Still? It was like this 20 years ago. I had hoped things had gotten better.
Henrico has an undercover Accord. It’s red, I believe
I love Reddit.... people complain about the idiot drivers then make it hard for cops to bust them. Let them fine the hell out of these tools cutting in and out of traffic at 20 over the speed limit. As long as that's not you, you have nothing to worry about. If it is, enjoy your well-deserved fine.
I know what they’re actually for. They’re supposed to provide structural support so that cops can crash into people when they’re performing dangerous and ill advised police chases. Someone ran away, rabid dogs run after
Lol nice attempt to adapt “bootlicker” to be a weird sex thing.

One American a day is killed by idiot cops doing dumb shit.
Ya it’s like 3 a day cus nationally it’s around 1000 per year.
I assumed the government source that article sourced from and linked to would be too challenging for you, but here it is https://bjs.ojp.gov/library/publications/police-vehicle-pursuits-2012-2013
I love making new friends. What’s your favorite color
I have a LeSabre and the thought of one pulling me has me rolling 😆
Harris county in Texas (county that has Houston in it) has a hellcat redeye (about 1000 hp) in their fleet. article

interesting. Usual antenna on roof?
