I’ve asked the dudes at the street stops if they know what roads are closed off so I can figure out how to get home and they said “Move Along” even though there are no cars around me. I just got off night shift and I’m going back to work tonight. My gps isn’t showing the road blocks, the marathon map basically just shows the marathon goes around my place. Any ideas?

The Waze app shows the road closures and can navigate you to your destination.

Dude you’re the MVP. I’ve never used Waze but this took me a way to my apartment I didn’t know about in the 2 years I’ve lived here lol

fun fact; that path doesn't usually exist, the waze app functions by exploiting temporary inter-dimensional shifts to create a path around blocked roads

I feel like I should only use Waze in emergencies then…don’t wanna fuck up the universe

I had to use it this morning too and I was surprised at how accurate it was with the road closures. I tend to use Waze more than Google maps.

Now to find if Waze will also talk to me with an Irish accent

I use the waze British gent voice for no other reason than he sends me traveling on the "PO-FI-TAY" Parkway (Powhite).

Has Waze gotten any better about saying to turn a little sooner? I was using it a couple years ago but stopped because it would always tell me to turn so late that it made it dangerous

I’ve always used Apple Maps because it tells me which lane to be in and what not

I don't use the voice features for waze (I use a windshield mount for my phone so the map is in my line of sight while driving). But they do have lane indicators now for turns, and I've never had an issue with the visual prompts for turns showing up too late

The police who sit at the road blocks during the marathon are literally useless. I remember last year I couldn’t get out of my parking deck to go to work & I had to yell at the officers to point me in the right direction. Not sure what they’re doing there if all they do is sit & twirl their thumbs.

I asked where the road was cut off at and the guy said “you can move right now or sit here, I don’t care” I flicked him off as I drove away

The officers don’t volunteer for the marathon, they also don’t have directions anywhere. They don’t know any more than you do.

Oooo! Even better, that means they are being PAID to do it.

But being paid by the marathon and not by the city, I think.

Hey they do some things! I saw one today yell at a driver cause he was on his phone while waiting for there to be a break in runners! That was a thing that was done.

They are only there to prevent runners from being hit by cars. They're paid by the marathon and not working for the city while they're at events like this.

Park as close as you can and walk.

Is there anything against walking across racing spots? I found the closest spot possible but I’d have to cross Monument

If you’re worried, draw a random number on a sheet of paper, hold it to your chest and tell them you’re an alternate.

I've def been yelled at by runners cause I had to cross broad while walking my bike. Cause I had work and lived in Jackson Ward at the time.

But fuck em. I just yelled back. I'm all for healthy hobbies but I have bills to pay man. What can ya do? 🤷‍♂️

Genuine question:

You can’t get back near where you live or you can’t get your car back near where you live?

I know it’s over but Waze and google maps both have all the road closures

Also the cops that are there know absolutely nothing and are about as useful as tits on a bull
