That's not how free speech works. Free speech means the government cannot abridge or retaliate against your speech. Your fellow community members are free to voice their support or disdain for any speech they like.

Just like Twitter can ban anyone they want. It seems like the right wing has a very difficult time comprehending free speech and the free market.

But there isn't a double standard. People are allowed to applaud free speech they agree with and denounce speech they don't.

It would be a double standard if people were saying he shouldn't be allowed to spread his message but anti-trump should be able to. But that's not what's going on here in this thread.

but that is not how it works in todays society. Today its the people who have taken it upon themselves to decide what free speech means. Its ok to say this, but saying that is offensive to ME. The Kathy Griffin thing a few years ago is an example of this, holding a bloody trump head was offensive to some, but others screamed "Free Speech" the government didnt decide that, the people did.

Today it's really not about the written law, its mob rule, if a group doesn't like what you say on your sign, they cancel or call it whatever the current word of the day is. The other group screams free speech.

And the Left wing has the same issues that you state about the right, the inability to see anything by their own way.

Here is an article from Texas of all places where the ACLU defends the "Fuck Trump" messaging.

I understand that you all are here to ridicule the person holding the sign and that nothing i will say here changes that. The problem is that many who do the ridiculing don't like to be ridiculed themselves when the roles are reversed.

I truly believe that we have reached a point in our history where neither group will ever be able to come to any kind of compromise on anything due to how divisive things have become.

You don't get it.

Everything you just described is precisely how free speech is supposed to work. Speech that is unpopular is ignored or denounced in favor of speech that isn't. Just like the free market.

If I have a business that isn't popular, it's upon me to change the perception of my business or change my business. Same goes for speech. You are entitled to say anything you want and others are free to go another direction. No one is stifling free speech.
