Waiting for the kids and wife to wake up to open their presents, then headed to my grandparent's house for Christmas breakfast. Christmas breakfast has always been one of my favorite parts of the year, though that fervor is a little stunted now that the vast majority of the people who were there when I was a kid are no longer with us. Even with the additions to the family over the years, population has been steadily dropping.

I miss my own family’s large holiday gatherings. We used to do Italian night on Christmas Eve at one uncles place and then regular Christmas dinner at another aunts place and everybody would come. Now they’re all passed away and the kids are scattered to the wind…

I know this feeling to well… such a sucky feeling. same exact plans every year until I turned 38. When my grandmother passed it was tough and our family holidays dissolved. This year was the first year my 20 year old son was not home Christmas Eve or Morning. I am happy he is growing in life and I missed him so very much. So conflicting! I hope you were able to have a happy day despite the changes you have been dealt. 💕

Oh man, I feel that last part. Same here. Hope your memories of them stay strong.
