I have some mixology book from Japan that has a whole write up about fried chicken and champagne. It does pair well.

I have a credo, that Lee’s goes with any and all celebrations. God bless those workers, and save their souls

Certainly better than my usual PBR, maybe I can throw in a splash

I hear PBR and Dom Perignon is a great combination

^(god please don't try it)

The notes of peppercorns and grapefruit provide the perfect acidity to balance out the well-seasoned yardbird from Lee's.

Champagne pairs well with anything and it IS known to pair well with fried chicken. No joke

Both of those things make my wife fart. I will not be serving them together.

Can it be sparkling wine or does it have to be champagne? Got a big party tonight and don't want to screw it up.

Any sparkling wine. I talked to a wine expert one time in Houston who successfully catered his own wedding with Cook’s Brut Grande Reserve as an inside joke.

And double wedges, naturally.

coffeedoodle t1_j2en6qm wrote

I don’t even normally care for wedges but Lee’s are perfection.

Dip the wedges in the gravy for the mashed potatoes. It’s life-changing

Everyone knows the move is to dip in honey mustard, then bbq. Perfect combo.

I just go with ranch. If you're gonna need angioplasty just go for the gold.

I wonder if there's a town somewhere that thinks Bojangles is a local restaurant.

Is this the byproduct of the fact that we did have a fried chicken franchise out of RVA? (RIP Church's.) Just wondering outloud.

Edit: how terrible. I got the name of the RVA franchise wrong. Golden Skillet is from RVA, not Church's.

needsexyboots t1_j2e8ja4 wrote

Isn’t Church’s a Texas franchise? Or was there another Church’s in RVA not related to that one?

Arcangelathanos t1_j2f5od2 wrote

Omg, you're right. I totally saw the sign in my head and it had the wrong words on it. Golden Skillet is from RVA.

I think because its not a well known chain and it being the only location in VA people just default to think its something local.

What cocktails don’t pair well with Lee’s Famous Fried Chicken

PilgrimRadio t1_j2esebe wrote

Champagne actually does pair well with fried chicken. And really.....it pairs well with a lot of food. It's customarily been used for toasting celebratory events and as an aperitif, but it's actually good during dinner a lot of the time. It's also good out of a normal Riedel wine glass, skip the flute.

NYE Champagne and Chesapeake Bay oysters is another great combo

Ear_Enthusiast t1_j2f58z3 wrote

Fried chicken pairs incredibly well with white wine, particularly if it's bubbles. I went to a Rose and fried chicken birthday party one of the biggest wine snobs in Richmond.
