I’m almost done watching Till. Taking a short mental health break because this is tough. RIP Barbara Walters who was 12 years older than Emmett Till and the same age as Anne Frank and Martin Luther King Jr. Only one of them got to live a long life…..

Barbara Walters was amazing. She really should be an icon for every woman because she did break that glass ceiling long ago. I know she was a hero to me

None of my heroes ever got mad for somebody trying to expose all the pedophiles in Hollywood. Odd choice.

I think about Emmitt Till various times throughout the year. Angers and saddened me every time. I haven't watched Till yet but hearing about the movie a few years ago made me realize how little I knew about Mamie Till-Mobley at the time. From the open casket to becoming an activist after having her child stolen from her.

I'll have to watch the movie sometime even though it will likely piss me off.

Okay, so never did this before but I'm guessing not everyone just stayed in tonight. Just talk among yourselves and love yourselves Richmonders because you are the best❤️

We tried to go to Greene but it was an 85 minute wait for golf. A brunch reservation is in our future, I think.

Just had a hell ride to DC and back today, some of the worst traffic I have seen in some time.

I have never had a great experience driving to or from DC. It doesn't seem to matter the time of day. It's always awful. I'm using Amtrak next trip

Trick is time and day - Tuesday leaving around noon is a sweet spot and then coming back starting at 7 PM often works well for me.

Do you have a sweet spot for going south to VB? Seems I can never get over the bridge without a delay

We make pretty frequent trips to VB- inlaws live there. I've given up on going 64 and now go 460 to 13/58 to 264. Much easier and lots of places to stop if needed.

My kid went to bed at 6:45 tonight after trying to fall asleep at 5:30. It's now 12:15am and I hear him walking around upstairs. Holding my breath that I'm not about to have a wired 12 year old on my hands.

Soloemilia t1_j2ch6ab wrote

Omg I’m nervous for you. I have a 14 year old with a totally fucked sleep schedule during the break!!!!

RileyDL t1_j2chbps wrote

Yeah, break has NOT been kind to his sleep schedule here either.

We’ve been watching random 90s and 00s movies on streaming. Even the worst are way better than today’s remakes, superhero, and CGI-heavy movies.

Are you off Monday? If you are, I would think Sunday would be a better travel day. Tomorrow before 6 too

3

[deleted] t1_j2cf5w6 wrote

Yea I’m off Monday. I don’t particularly care about new years, just avoiding traffic

2

HunterRoze t1_j2dmpnv wrote

I think the first, being a Sunday will give you a better chance to drive.
