Four more days in dry January I'm looking forward to having a glass of wine again. Seven more pounds to lose before I can have beer again sadly

Same. I’m debating just continuing to not drink for awhile tbh

Why not continue?

shrug Idk. Def a little quieter without drinking, but that’s good too. Yet I wonder if I’m putting no effort into going out because I’m not drinking…or if going out to bars/trying to link up with people has real purpose

Trying to link up with people has real purpose. Whether you need alcohol to do that is a different question.

Same. I don't think I should be dry forever though because it will not ultimately bring me happiness. Putting another boundary on myself has made me even more antisocial, bitter at my spouse and missing out on a huge section of Richmond entertainment.

Yea. Like I KNOW so many people so going out I always run into people (side job is a very popular bar in the city for metal heads/punks/vegans) so I love chilling there with my shift drink.

My problem is I live alone, single, and struggle to find things to do. So a lot of times I just go to a bar I know- but that has ended up in me blacking out at times and being shitty.

But other times it leaves me on adventures I wouldn’t be doing if I was sober.

Also calories/missing the gym is something I’m trying to avoid.

This is why I don't want anything harder than beer in the house and will focus on getting just one nice mixed drink and hydrating more when going out.

blacking out is not good... Maybe stick to beer and wine and see how that goes?

Or give up drinking of course, it's the right solution for many people. Only you know the answer

I never get drunk, but I LOVE wine and I LOVE beer. Which is why I do dry January, I like it enough that I keep awareness.

But I also don't feel better after giving up drinking. Not drinking is the righ choice for many, but I don't feel it is for me.
