Exactly as the title states, these people are the worst ever. I’ve been living in one of the Cold Storage buildings for about 3 years now. At first, everything was fine. This year however has been hell. The unit were in now had to have almost every appliance replaced after move in (in which they replaced everything with other used appliances). Then, after a slew of car break ins, the leasing company hired security to monitor the parked cars. Well, apparently they decided to only hire the security for the summer months and left tenants high and dry with no notice of the security being temporary. When cars right before Christmas got broken into, the leasing office shrugged and said that the summer security wasn’t paid out by tenants and that break ins aren’t their responsibility. My car was one of the many broken into and with some other work needing to be done, I kept my car in the lot with the appropriate car tag. Today they decided to tow it despite knowing it was being worked on and are claiming no responsibility. On top of all that, I received an email that they want to show off the unit despite me letting them know that we have COVID and won’t done with quarantine until Wednesday. Good to know they want to expose tenants to Covid.

I think it depends on the property managers and complex itself. I’m in a Main St Realty complex and have had absolutely no issues. Maintenance is timely and respectful (and some friendly hilarious guys), office staff is responsive, if something weird happens like nonstop fire alarms, they disclose what happened mechanically to cause the issue. I’ve asked maintenance to give me a heads up on filter changes, etc. as my cat gets spooked easily. Had a broken freezer that they worked through a series of repairs on, quietly, as I was WFH and in a meeting during the repair.

Though fully acknowledging everyone’s experience with property management is different - somehow I hit the jackpot.

I had a pretty bad experience with them at Canal Walk Lofts. Maintenance is fantastic over there, but the office team was constantly turning over and seemed to be run by people who have no understanding of multi-family prop management.

From pre-lease to move out, I dealt with some of the most incompetent leasing agents and PMs I've ever experienced... coming from someone that has been dealing with that industry professionally for years.

What does that mean? Did this leasing agent really expect tenants to personally pay for security?

I had the same experience at Canal Walk on 20th. 5 years of no issues other than claiming the pitbull a neighbor had was a golden retriever. I suggested the staff get their eyes checked. It was a muscled up pit that was very aggressive in the hallways and was owned by a young man that little control over the dog on a leash,

My car was one that got broken into too. Our in unit washer gave an error code and almost flooded our apartment, luckily my roommate was home and noticed it in time to get the water turned off. Took almost a week for maintenance to come back and fix it. And the building laundry facility is basically useless, it takes like five hours to do a load bigger than a couple shirts. I definitely don't plan on signing a new lease
