Life goal achieved! Not only got to see one up close, but got to see it gently glide to the ground from our second story deck. That was cool!

Awesome! Haven't seen any in the RVA in the 17 years I've been here. Growing up in NoVA, our house backed up to parkland and we'd see 'em all the time flying in the trees, or occasionally when one of our cats was able to grab one for a snack. Fortunately, that was rare for her to catch them, as she and our other two primarily focused on mice...

We moved to the blue ridge a few years ago. We definitely never saw one back home. This one was in the bathroom and our cats made sure we knew about it. It was scared, but otherwise unharmed. I can’t tell you how excited we were to see it glide from the second story deck upon release!!

Well, hopes once again dashed to see one out here, I'll just have to keep my eyes open when visiting family up north. But I'm glad your kitties didn't get to it, as they are such neat creatures. Fortunately, when you see one, there are usually more around, so keep your eyes open and enjoy!

I haven’t seen any live, but my cats are averaging one a year as a snack. We live in the west end, so they are definitely in this area.
