I used an agent when purchasing a home recently. He shopped around for me. I feel like I got a good deal and it was easier than doing all of the legwork myself. I used State Farm for many years, but their customer service went downhill and they are just like the other big companies now. Ended up going with Utica Mutual thru the agent. They have actual people who answer the phone which is nice. If you're looking for motorcycle insurance, try Markel. They were way cheaper than Geico.
