Hi!

I was wondering where people have had success buying actually comfortable women's dress shoes in the Richmond area. I'm looking for something that has real padding, arch support, and ideally grippy bottoms without looking like a sport sandal. I'm looking for like a dressy looking sandal or maybe flats as long as they're the kind that don't rely on pinching your heels to death in order to stay on your feet. I have hip problems/disability so I need to be picky about this.

Thanks!

I’m not a woman, but I’m a huge fan of “Clarks” dress shoes. They have dressy looking casual styles, that are comfortable.

My ex-wife used to wear Merrell flats. She really liked them.

Seconding Clarks for ladies. They're my go-to for shoes and boots.

I could’ve sworn Clark’s had some kind of amazing warranty but I can’t seem to find it online. An old boss of mine would even get her socks there because Clark’s would replace them once they were worn out. (This was like 9 years ago, though, so maybe things have changed)

I have found that I have to order those sort of shoes online.

Or maybe Saxon Shoes (not sure if they are still around, it’s been awhile).

Saxon shoes is where I’d recommend, they even have a very nice barely used ladies shoe section. If only my feet were small enough for some of those feather covered two inch heels 😫

Saxon’s has a good selection and their back room has great deals.

I go to DSW in Willow Lawn and make sure to buy comfy insoles and other padding. I also go for block heels or wedges.

Vionic shoes are the best! They have podiatrists on their design team. I know they're at DSW but they're worth ordering online. Huge variety of styles and they last for years.

I’m a huge fan of vionics - slippers, sandals, dress shoes, casual slip-on tennis shoes. I have to order from Zappos or Amazon. They’ve helped me recover from plantar fasciitis, so they’re all I wear. Which reminds me that I need new slippers and new tennies.

I needed a good dressy shoe for my daughter’s wedding last year. I was also the wedding coordinator and needed to be on my feet most of the day. Saxon’s had great options and I found a mid-heel nice comfortable dressy shoe.

I’m a teacher and after visits to a podiatrist and therapy for plantar fasciitis I wear sneakers. I dress them up “Working Girl” style… maybe not the cutest but function is key!

Go check out one of the Plato's Closet locations. My lady friend found the best perfect pair of flats to go with a dress where nowhere else could come close, the west broad store.
