Who has the fancy watches in town? The Rolex site shows that only Fink’s In Short Pump has them. I’m thinking of splurging on myself and am just starting to research watches. Where can I see the good stuff (Rolex and other brands) in person?

Meet me in the alley between 17th, 18th, Main, and Cary — I’ll have the goods.

Cowardins at willow lawn and Schwarschild in carytown has used ones for sale. Finks is the only authorized dealer for new rolex but I promise they have zero new watches for sale and expect year plus wait lists for literally any new rolex right now. Schwarschild in short pump has new omega , breitling, Panerai available all the time. Finks has tag heuer, cartier, Tudor.

I was at Finks a couple months ago and they did have a nice selection of Rolex’s on display, although I’m not sure if they are just display models or available for purchase. The expensive watch market is slowly getting back to normal from quite a bubble and there was nothing available for a long time. Schwarschild in Carytown does have a small selection on Rolex’s to check out as well as of earlier this month. If you have a specific watch in mind and it is a popular model expect to be on a waitlist for awhile unless you want to buy from the grey market for a higher price. Do you have a certain model in mind, or other brands you are interested in?

Schwarzschild and Finks are both Omega dealers.

Schwarzschild also carries Breitling while Finks carries Grand Seiko.

Solid choice, those tend to have shorter wait times which is a perk plus the affordable option when it comes to Rolex. For the price range I might also suggest looking at an Omega sea master aqua terra, Grand Seiko, or JLC Master (Jaeger LeCoultre). Plenty of options when it comes to watches.

If you want to see the good stuff in person you probably want to go to Tyson’s. First thing on google maps is Lenkersdorfer and there’s a picture of the oyster perpetual you mentioned

A Rolex is a thing of beauty. My dad bought one while working overseas with the State Department. He was young and grew up desperately poor. He was given a stipend and his CO suggested he spend it on a Rolex since his food and lodging were all paid for. He had never heard of a Rolex. So he bought the Rolex having no idea what level of fine it was until years later. He was about 24 when he bought it and wore it every day until he died at 74. He took it off once while he was working in his vegetable garden and forgot where he’d left it. It was missing for a year. I was playing in the garden the next summer and spotted it sitting on a fence post. He was thrilled and it still worked perfectly. My brother now wears it daily. Edit: I hope you find one you love! May you wear it as long as my dear father did.

Whatever timepiece you settle on, please consider adding it to your homeowners or renters insurance. Make a copy of your receipt and keep it with your important documents.
