I lived in SF for a few years too. Have you found anywhere that does compare to SF restaurants???

Yes. This. I moved from SF to DC and that was an easy transition. RVA doesn’t have the same vibe.

I don’t know if it’s because of the differences in cities or just the post-Covid environment, but I haven’t really yet. SF has this energy that I haven’t been able to find elsewhere. I did make a recent trip back to SF and some places were still popping with locals, but others were still pretty quiet. SF is still somewhat in a face-mask and isolation situation, though.

Yaya’s Cookbook is probably the only place I get that SF vibe… slightly.

Just ate at the new Italian restaurant in the old longoven space. It's called "lost letter", it was very good. Expensive, but good.
