It's terrible. How could we solve this problem? I have no clue.

Keeping billions and billions of land animals cooped up in incredibly dense aka "highly efficient" factory farms requires massive amounts of antimicrobial drugs, and even that isn't enough to keep pandemics from spreading in such terrible, unsanitary conditions. We've made a series of mistakes with animal agriculture, and things are really bleak.

The good news is that humans can greatly reduce or even eliminate their consumption of animal products while still meeting their nutritional needs. There is a better future out there.

The bad news is that the gulf between what we can do and will do is bleak as you've described it.

As consumers ? By not buying those products , elect people who care and let other people know about those issues without bothering them (as it could have the opposite effect).

and once you look up the enforcement of those labels and what it entails, you'll realize fast that's a bad idea.

So glad I switched to impossible beef. Now I just need Big Science to make a good plant-based chicken and I’ll be set.

I'd argue that some of the plant based chicken products are even better.

There are tons of good fried/breaded options. But Daring is good and they have non breaded versions. Great for making burritos or taco salads.

I saw daring recently at the shop. I have not tried it yet. How similar to chicken would you say it is texture wise (if you can remember what that was like)?

I still seldom will crave chicken salad and ive not found anything very good for that imo for the specific recipe i used to enjoy.

Morningstar farms and gardein grilled chicken strips are good and cheaper too.

Tofurkey also do a refrigerated grilled chicken type thing in a kind of sauce.

If you wipe out the animals gut flora, the livestock animal doesn’t have to compete with microorganisms for nutrients. They get fat. Does the same thing happen with humans?

Is there even such a thing as a self regulating human?
