So the paper that was sign by a large number of "tech leaders" and being blasted across all groups of media as Musk said x. If you look into things, not all but the far far far majority including Musk are in competition with upcoming AI.

Like think about it. Musk is pretty close when it comes to self driving cars. He spent how much getting self driving going, his bots that never been sold, and so on. GPT4/5 is already programming robots on a task by task thing. And likely this stuff will be used to make actual full self driving. Meaning it will quickly become open source.

Shortly after, virtually anyone can get a conversion kit to get self driving and companies who hasn't spent a cent in self driving will be able to pump out self driving cars.

The thing was sign by over 1,000 people. Many who run companies who directly are dying thanks due to recent AI, or it's pretty freaking obvious they will be hit massively.

I'm not saying some aren't worried about ethic and moral bla bla bla. But that's like a political person in the USA worried about poor people not affording the ability to go to the doctor, but when it's pointed out there is countries with free healthcare for all magically it goes to (we aren't a socialist country (but ignore how public schools are free)). Like it's a say 1 thing and another and the real focus is on killing upcoming competition. Competition that is highly likely to win.

Note even average joes can sign this thing https://futureoflife.org/open-letter/pause-giant-ai-experiments/ (and note that media spins it as all are tech leaders)

And lets pick a handful to prove my point.

Person Job/industry How AI will kill their job/industry
Shuichiro Teramachi Scientific Education Group Co.,Ltd., Mathematics Teacher It's already estimated AI will highly likely replace the school and learning system as it already has shown extreme out of date practices that doesn't work for most people.
Adis Mušić Medical student In NC an insurance company is doing a test to have a in-home doctor with using medical stuff and AI. It is thought every home in the future will replace general doctors, and after a point human doctors will go more and more away. This hardcore has been looked at after it has been found many doctors gaslight the person to get out of doing work or a test. There is a recent story where some new mother almost died due to the gaslighting.
Craig Peters CEO, Getty Images AI art
Henry Elkus Founder & CEO: Helena (farming company) It is expected after better AI and robotics, a farmer will simply need an AI core to run a farm, and it will make all the buying and other things. And as time goes on the AI will use raw data instead of feeling like a human would to buy things or modify things to get the best crop.
Paul Luton Labour Party member, Retired, None Obviously the replacing jobs

BTW going through the list I tried to not reuse career fields. There is a TON of teachers that sign this. I'm not joking, at first glance it looks like half of it is teachers.

Anyways, I'm sure everyone gets my point.

The biggest thing to prove this is some of the people who sign it are ceo that are making AI like musk or work in AI.

Just ask. Are they stopping development for 6 months and just sitting on their hands?

The answer is no. So it's a do as I say but not as I do.

So you think somineone pointing out companies who can see lower profits or die due to AI competition and that's the reason why they sign this is cynic?

Or are you taking them at their word and believe AI will magically give 2 crap about things we do (food, land, resources) and screw with us? IMO that is a cynic. Even more, that's someone who uses no logic
