I genuinely think that people born in a decade or 2 will never experience going to school like the rest of us did for ~20 years

If they are merged with AI they will just learn everything automatically without needing to spend any time in education.

I disagree, there are huge social benefits to school. Schooling will change, sure, but groups of children will still be required to socialise in a controlled setting.

School is a very miserable experience and I'm sure most of the kids don't want to go.

Social skills are similar to any other skills your brain learns, I believe AI will be able to simply input these skills into our brains

Gone are the days where some individuals are more skilled than others (socially, artistically, intelligence wise, physically etc). I think AI puts everyone on the same playing field

Research things themselves. Once the ai bots like gpt can filter out false information it will be a thousand times more effective at researching and comparing sources.

So? We’ll still be curious and want to do experiments. How boring would life be if there’s no challenge or inquisitiveness about nature.

Knowing how to use the index of a book will be less common.

They will just type in their questions into an AI generator instead of looking up single pages in mammoth stuff like Intel's manual on the x86 architecure (almost 5000 pages).

Typing. I think fewer and fewer people will learn how to use keyboards as an input device as voice prompting takes over.

voice prompt is not something i would like, rather though prompt, we have voice prompt now but barely anyone uses it

Calling the current time phone line to set your clocks.
Who else remembers a number for it?

Ha! Just checked and it still works, just temperature and commercials instead of just time.

There are many things that a person born today may not experience or do thanks to technological advances. Some examples include:``

Using a payphone: With the widespread adoption of cell phones, payphones have become less common and may be difficult to find in many places.

Sending a letter through snail mail: With the widespread use of email and other electronic communication methods, many people may never need to send a physical letter through the mail.

Using a physical map: With the widespread use of GPS and mapping apps, many people may never need to use a physical map to navigate.

Watching movies on physical media: With the increasing popularity of streaming services, many people may never need to purchase a physical DVD or Blu-ray disc to watch a movie.

Using a phonebook: With the widespread use of search engines and online directories, many people may never need to use a physical phonebook to look up phone numbers or addresses.

Using a travel agent: With the proliferation of online travel booking websites and apps, many people may never need to use a travel agent to book a trip.

Using a calculator: With the widespread use of smartphones and other devices with built-in calculators, many people may never need to use a standalone calculator.

Using a film camera: With the widespread adoption of digital cameras and smartphones with camera capabilities, many people may never need to use a film camera.

Using a physical encyclopedia: With the availability of online encyclopedias and other sources of information, many people may never need to use a physical encyclopedia.

Using a cassette tape or CD player: With the increasing popularity of streaming music services, many people may never need to use a cassette tape or CD player to listen to music.

People born today or even 5 maybe 10 years ago will probably never put gas into a car or drive a gas powered car. In fact i would say teenagers today probably won’t do those things

paint-roller t1_j0lw7pg wrote

Even if all cars produced today went electric your probably looking to at least 20 years before gas powered cars wear out and are off the road.

Currently buying new off the lot gas powered cars won't be banned in California until 2035. If we are optimistic and car manufacturers switch over to electric by 2030 then the last of gas powered cars will be going off the road by around 2045-2055.

Most people born today will still start out using gas.
