The real Josef Stalin was actually a smart and tough guy back in his day. IQ range probably around 140-150.

As a child from an abusive alcoholic shoemaker he talked a priest into refering him to a seminary. There he read every book he could get his hand on exept theology and educated himself. Droped out as a communist.

The only legal job he ever held was as assistant in an observatory. In his 20's he became the Al Capone of Baku, leading a semi criminal network, robbing banks, kidnaping, murder, extortion and instigating teamster union strikes.

Dealt with betrayels, infighting, arrests, bribery and exiled 2 times to Siberia. From his old mob buddies nobody survived long, curious, all disappeared.

Worked his way up into upper party managment during the russian revolution and the rest is history.

There is something that Mussulini and Stalin have in common, both also were newspaper editors in chief out of passion and build their power around it. Stalin was a writer and editor of the largest communist newspaper around 1916, as was Mussolini for the largest socialist newspaper in his youth.

Even Hitler wrote a book, though he wasn't smart enough to write or edit a newspaper, not even for propaganda purposes.
