Why is the first one being held by aluminum foil? Does it protect the meteorite or anything like that?

It is common way to protect freshly fallen meteorites during recovery and transportation. By wrapping the meteorite in aluminum foil, it helps to insulate it from the environment and protect it from rapid temperature changes. This is especially important for meteorites that have fallen in wet or humid environments, as exposure to moisture can cause them to rust or degrade.
