lol, find it kind of hilarious. They're all "oh, the hippy of the family thinks this is so important"
wife and I drove about 7 hours total to see the one in 2017 for 3 minutes of totality and it was beyond worth it.
Wife is not normally into space phenomenons and was not too enthusiastic about going to see it, but after she saw it: described it as the most miraculous event of nature that she had ever seen, eclipsing (har har) giving birth to her first born child! seriously!
So anyhow, just a reminder to call off work for April 2024
