The author was like, let me write about this detailed Europa pic, which actually looks boring so let me use a fake one next to my headline

That's the ice moon Hoth.

I heard there isn't enough life on that ice cube to fill a space cruiser.

"the Most Detailed One Yet"

False. It's Juno's highest resolution look at Europa. It is absolutely not the highest resolution picture we have of Europa.

I always cringe when I see these, but I don't have the numbers for Galileo. I mean, I'm glad Juno had a decent flyby, but it's been done.

Wait. Did you just “meh” a fly-by photo of Europa?

I worked Galileo, so been there done that. It's not a record altitude (200 km) and the image was taken with the star scanner, not a science instrument.

It’s also been almost 23 years since the last Galileo flyby of Europa. Yes, Galileo had higher resolution cameras, but Juno has things like MWR that can actually due ice-penetrating measurements.

While the SRU didn’t start out as a science instrument, it is officially one now in the extended mission. Higher resolution than JunoCAM and more sensitive so it can take pictures in Jupiter-shine that JunoCAM can’t really do.

I'm not saying this is a bad image. I know a lot of people onJuno and it's a worthwhile mission. I'm just reacting to the recency bias.

Wow look at the chaotic fractures in the crust super detailed photo best photo we have had of Europa besides a couple images from the gallieo mission . Can't wait for Europa clipper . Although there's no chance we could ever live in Europa cause of intense radiation it sure is awesome to study it . I think far future humanity does have a place on Titan Saturns moon though

Where are all the people claiming clear evidence of alien racing cars on the surface?? Given the number of claims that there must be alien civilisations based on images of innocuous things on Mars I'd have thought they'd be coming in droves...
