Equipment

Orion skyscanner 100mm telescope, svbony 2x Barlow lens, 3x Barlow lens, 10mm eyepiece, Samsung galaxy M21 on a smartphone adapter.

Processed in PIPP, Autostakkert.

Composited in Adobe Photoshop and Snapseed.

The image is not in the relative sizes tho. (Not to scale)

This looks on par with looking through an 8” dob. Are these images reflective of what you see looking through the scope yourself?

InternationalBack472 OP t1_j0p6lzq wrote

Not really. The amount of detail I see with my naked eyes is a little less than these images. I stacked the best frames for above images. Thanks!

I was hoping they were. 8” dob is heavy and maybe not worth the aperture fever. Nice images.

So maybe a 12 inch will do for really great images?

I once went to my university observatory with a 16 inch Newtonian, sadly where I live the skies aren't great, even with clear skies I don't recall Jupiter and Saturn looking any better than the images you have here. The detail on the moon was much better though

Nice image! my tip would be to try processing the image with wavelets in registax 6 after autostakkert. Really brings out details and sharpening. Its free and there are a few tutorials about for it.

At first I was like, “oh shoot there was an alignment!?”

And then I looked closer and read. Nice photos!

You’re fake for not knowing how to read his description. Also. Distance plays a big role in the size we see

The original comment said, “This is fake!”

This makes me think of the Romulan Senator holding up a vial and saying, “It’s a faaaake!”

Other comps are cool but this will just confuse stupid people who see it.

Also, you are great and continue.

Very nice, are these to scale from Earth view? Or are Jupiter/Saturn captured with a higher magnification?

I can hear Richard Strauss play in my head just looking at this picture. Although, reading that it is a composite was a bit of a led-down

Your composition had very noticable banding on my screen.

I couldn't do these kind of photo, but a simple edit for you.

Awesome pic! Thanks for sharing c:

The moon's bloom is cut off on top and bottom and it annoyed me so I "fixed it". Hope you dont mind.

Also, pls tell me if it looks good. On my editing software it looks ok but in windows photo viewer looks like crap lol.

InternationalBack472 OP t1_j0ry2ut wrote

I can't see what you fixed in this. I'm sorry.

corals1 t1_j0ta8f2 wrote

the "glow" around the moon, its cut... nvm its nothing important. just "fixed" it for myself and thought some people might be interested. clearly not. lol.
