Centurion is just up the road from the bullring (Wanderers) where SA chased down 434 in that epic 2003 ODI.
I'm guessing the altitude helps.

It helps when the pitch is a road and square boundaries are 60m.

The 438 game was in 2006.
Centurion is 2 kilometres above sea level. That's the main reason you saw all the sixes yesterday.
ps. The next game is also going to be a high scoring game (Johannesburg is even higher up than Centurion).

I was/am an Australian fan, did 4 cricket games plus holiday around the country. Phenomenal trip.

Ah, I am/was a local Joburg kid (final year of school at the time iirc).
I "dropped" one of the (many) Ponting sixes that reached the crowd, and got lip from everyone for all of the Ozzie's innings... Had the last laugh though, thanks to Gibbsy.

I was there too lol. Box a couple away from the cameras. Ricky Ponting hit a 6 into the box one over from us.
