I have to assume that votes have been counted and there are at least 24 owners willing to force Snyder out. There is no way his ego would allow him to admit defeat unless he had no choice.

Good riddance. He is definitely the worst owner in major North American professional sports. And that's saying a lot, as there is no shortage of competition for that title.

Edit to add: Everyone jumping in here with other shitty owners who they think are worse than Snyder are just wrong. Like I said, there are a ton of awful owners. But only Snyder sued his own season ticket holders. And only Snyder swindled his his own season ticket holders.

I actually feel sorry for their fans... And I'm a Cowboys fan. Miss the ol rivalries between to two teams when both were better respected.

I 100% agree.

Also, I hate you and Fox Sports Cowboy loving bias.

But you are also 100% agree, Washington has sucked for so long, I don't even look forward to the rival game anymore.

When I moved to DC in the 1980’s everyone talked about the Redskins everywhere. People at the grocery store would talk to each other about the games. You’d see Redskins flags everywhere, and there was always chatter at work about the team. The news was always fun to read articles about the team, and it was a massive, shared cultural experience.

Snyder has squandered all of that since he bought the team. Entire generations of kids have grown up thinking the Redskins are losers and either don’t care about football at all, or root for some other team. Hardly anyone talks about the team at work, amongst friends, or in bars. Most people I know who have gone to games in the last 10 years go to support the other team.

I’ve never seen such destruction of goodwill and a tearing down of a cultural icon in such a short period of time. But here we are.

I hope they sell and leave town.

I vote for both the team AND the town to leave the planet. We'll, maybe that's a bit harsh... The players and coaches can stay and start anew.

Hey... I even get sick of all the bias.. It's like they have the Cowboys as Super Bowl contenders every year.. I mean cmon.. Let's go deep into the playoffs a few times first.

Two things are certain in life:

The Cowboys as Super Bowl contenders in the preseason

Notre dame ranked insanely high/“this is our year” in the preseason

The only reason is because of the size of the fan base. The Cowboys are never “poised for a deep playoff run.” I used to love to hate them. But they have been bad for so long it’s not even sporting anymore. How I sport in g is it? It would be like waiting for a three legged dog to get up off the ice only to hit it with a stick and wait for it to try to get up again. It’s that UNSPORTING. But, good luck cowboys, I hope you and the raiders finally do something.

Also: the dez Bryant playoff game was a catch.

I absolutely despise the McCaskey family as a Bears fan.

That said, I’ve met a handful of NFL owners thanks to my job - Dan is definitely absolutely the worst. Goodell is a major asshole too, but Snyder is definitely the worst pro sports owner in the country.

When he took over, Washington was in the top three of most valuable sports franchises in the world.

What a horrible human. The worst timeline all started the day Snyder bought the team. I mega-loathe him.

I live in VA and know some rich folks who knew of Snyder’s dealings. One story stuck out: there is a $10,000 fine for cutting down a certain tree in protected areas and he spent like $5M cutting a bunch down so he could have a better view of the Chesapeake Bay watershed

So apparently the feds are investigating the Commanders finances but I'm sure that has nothing to do with their sudden intrest in selling.

7

YorockPaperScissors t1_iuumum9 wrote

Excellent point - an impending indictment might be his motivation to sell rather than his fellow owners (who hate him).

They've won the same number of superbowls and I'd argue the chargers have been MUCH more successful and relevant since 1999, when Snyder took over. Even IF you ignore the off the field stuff, which is hilariously stupid to do so, spanos has fielded a better product than Snyder.

Snyder has loads of qualifications for both categories. He runs his team like a barely functional kleptocratic dictatorship. You may have noticed that they haven't been terribly successful on the field since he purchased the team in 1999.

Even though Spanos moved the Chargers to LA, I stand by my assertion that Snyder is far worse.
