You have to look at Cricket in Tiers. Based on performances and points, teams move up and down in ranking. The Super 8 automatically qualify, after that are qualifiers and so on. U.S.A. was in the qualification group with UAE (i think) and didn't fair too well. U.S.A. is ranked 25th, Canada 20th.

Nah they were at the other global qualifier. Lost to the Netherlands in the semifinals. Incidentally the way they beat Canada in the regionals to get there was both controversial and extremely funny.

They get a free pass next time as hosts.
