Are people upset 50% of their roster was born outside of the country? Don’t know the norms of World Cup country but that seems high.
With how far they have come, it's obvious they are wetting their shirts and giving their all to the country. Maybe not born there, but very much culturally Moroccan as the diaspora abroad keeps the traditions and links to the old country
Ziyech doesn't speak a word of Arabic. He only speaks Dutch and English.
Not sure what point you are trying to make. But none of us are an authority on how a person can identify culturally. He did choose to represent Morocco, he likely shares a significant number of cultural values picked from home regardless of what language he uses. At the end of the day, only he can say what he feels is his cultural identity.
Pretty hard to be Moroccan when he wouldn't be able to communicate with anyone there unless they spoke Dutch or English. Looks to me like his identity is reactionary based on being a minority in a mostly white nation.
I love this! 😆 So here's a lesson to enlighten your ignorant ass: when Ziyech asks for translation when reporters ask him in Arabic, it's because they're speaking MSA (Modern standard Arabic) , not Darija (Moroccan Arabic). MSA is taught at schools in Morocco and you find it in official documents but we don't speak it, we speak Darija our dialect and there are many regions in the country where Amazigh is spoken. He does speak some Darija and he also speaks Amazigh which is the language he grew up with at home since his family is from North east Morocco and of Amazigh origin.
He literally only speaks Dutch and English. You're the one who is ignorant. His father was also born and raised in Holland.
Ironically his father is buried in Morocco. They don't even feel Dutch enough to be buried in the country and would rather be be buried home despite the huge expenses that entails.

Romain Saïss honors people like me who bear a French first name and and Arabic last name, born and raised in France yet proud of Morrocan heritage.
There is an ongoing big push by Morocco to have a competent training center for youngsters in Salé but Morocco will not hate anything from its diaspora, would it be Dutch or French or Canadian (Bono).
This team to me symbolise how despite being from different backgrounds, when everyone gets on the same page, it's possible to do great things. Together.

That's a solid point, I think Aguerd even went to the very first batch if I'm not mistaken.
It shouldnt even be considered an issue.. I would say at least they are of moroccan decent A lot of the other teams have nationalised players who are of other decent..
Yeah I agree just saw a chart that said they had by far the most out of any country. I thought the us had a lot but they’re at 30% and is obviously a very multi cultural country.
Whoever is upset at that is a weirdo. Considering a player like Hakimi could play for Spain and chooses not too says a lot about how he appreciates his roots and culture
Interestingly enough, he said recently in an interview with LA Marca that he played for Spanish youth team but didn't feel he belonged, it wasn't his place.
Why do people need to bring this up every time? All the first world countries currently in the World Cup have similar or the same situation with a ton of foreign born players. If you’d like let’s take out all the “foreign” players out of France, Netherlands etc

No one’s bringing them down. In fact most people that responded are positive. I’m not an avid fifa fan so I asked a question on it.

They are actually the team with the HIGHEST % of players born in the Country they represent. The vast majority of teams are less than 20%.
