The post about Price Cutter made me wonder, at one point there was a fairly strong grocery union here. Is it still around? Also with so many manufacturing jobs leaving over the last few decades, that can't be good. But I do see Union stickers on cars once in a while.
BNSF is the only union that I really hear about in Springfield
Wholesale Grocers used to be union. Not sure if this is still the case. A family member is a UPS driver in the area and they’re union. I read a couple Starbucks in town attempted to unionize but assume this didn’t happen.

Postal workers are union workers with each craft having their own unions.. im a clerk in the apwu..for the most part I favor being a union member for a variety of different reasons.. others may feel differently than me.
The union gets a bad rep on the subreddit on here but locally it’s really good imo. At least when I was still a postal worker
Our local plant has 2 unions that have won over 5.1 mil in grievance settlements over the last 3 years.. may not think they serve ur every interest but our locals here are doing a great job .. there is an article in the news leader from back in October 22 about it. Plenty of clerks , mail handlers and carriers clear 100k easy with OT and new clerks are all starting at 20 an hr now.
Ozarks Coca-Cola is with teamsters 245. They start their hourly full time employees around $20 and goes up to $27 depending on department.

I had a job offer for Pepsi, about a year ago... The union bit actually seemed to be a slight deterrence. No PTO to start with then having to schedule it at the beginning of the year and hope I don't get bumped off.
Not completely sure about which manufacturers are leaving the area. GE maybe, but others are coming here and some are expanding.

My dad was a UFCW meat man at Price Cutter until 2015 or so. It seems like in the end the situation wasn’t great and the Union wasn’t that supportive of him, maybe because their power had declined somehow… or maybe he was just an asshole… I don’t know what the landscape is looking like nowadays but I do know that within the last decade it was a Union operation.
Laborers union 663 easily kept me in work when I was there not too long ago.
French’s is union, and it’s strong. Mueller is union.
Timken is still unionized. I think Loren Cook is also.
AWG is union, as far as manufacturing goes I think Loren Cook is still a union manufacturing shop but I could be mistaken.

Production workers at DFA and Hiland are union. My wife works at DFA. The union benefits are great and they really look after their members.
That's good to hear. My dad worked for Hiland and then Foremost back in the day and I'm pretty sure it was union work then, maybe Teamsters

Pepsi teamsters union is weak as fuck. The health insurance is great but that's it they didn't do shit otherwise It was basically a non-union job with the same old shit. Most unions in Springfield are in cahoots with management.
Also the "black mold" situation with Amazon was apparently something invented due to a dozen or so employees deciding they were a union.

Teamsters 245 represent a number of local manufacturers. It’s a mixed bag though. Husband and I are both union members with different employers, and we make way better money than we would otherwise, but the union isn’t as strong in other areas as we would like and it can feel like they’re “in bed” with the company sometimes.
UPS are Teamsters.

The labor unions are pretty weak in this area. I make more as a non Union electrician than I would if I joined the IBEW. Joplin is even worse for union. Unions are pretty strong in KC and StL though.
