I have applied to live at 800 south at elevate this fall and was wanting to see if I made a good decision. It’s 695 for a fully furnished apartment, personal bathroom, walk in closet, and utilities are paid for.

Man I remember renting a 2 bed, 2 bath duplex with a yard and 2 car garage for about that just a few years ago...

It's so crazy how the cost of rent/living has changed so much here, so fast. I feel so fortunate to have been lucky enough to have bought a house just before covid hit and the housing market went full tilt.

I hear that. My wife and I did the same thing and feel lucky because of it.

Just so you realize, it's not going to be your own apartment, It's going to be a room with a shared common space and 2-3 other people.

I bet the nice thing about that though is if your buddy flakes on the rent money you aren’t having to look for a new place as well.

this is the upside of these places over looking for rooms for rent or splitting a lease

I currently live at 800 South with Elevate student living. It's been one of my worst experiences living with an apartment my whole life. The management can be passive aggressive, they often don't pick up the phone, they're not very helpful and they can be dismissive of concerns. Also the street that 800 South is on is not a safe street. This is my 3rd school year living at this location and there have been 4 shootings so far. Last summer, I went home to visit family. I came back to Springfield and found bullets in my living room floor. We called the cops and the officer who came by told us that Elevate does not work with SPD and that there's even a detective who is assigned to "monitor" what's happening on Robberson Ave.

This past Christmas and New Years, I was gone again. I came back and found out there was another shooting on the same street. Elevate did not notify their residents, because they thought that since everyone is gone, they wouldn't want us to know that it had happened!

Another complaint I have is regarding package delivery, etc. I've had packages delivered by Amazon, UPS, USPS and FedEx stolen. A lot of my neighbors have also complained that their packages get stolen too. I've also 2 bikes stolen, which is even more infuriating, because the bike rack is behind the gated area and somehow they were still stolen. (the two bikes were worth around $300 each)

Anyway, OP, if you want to chat more, feel free to DM me.

It’s a shared common space isn’t it? 800 and you don’t even get your own apartment sheesh. I’m renting a 2bd duplex with all appliances from Roza for 750 just a mile away from there

I lived on that same street as a undergrad in a house that is now gone to make room for those apartments. It's probably a safer little area now than when I lived there because of the apartments and it never felt unsafe back then. Used to be super convenient to walk to MSU when the weather was nice. House my friend and I rented was $650 for 2br 1ba so yeah those places want to make you pay out the nose for what is essentially a dorm. If you like the complex go for it, it's not a bad area to be in and convenient to downtown.

I live a couple of blocks west of there. It's not the greatest neighborhood but that's a pretty good value.

I have a friend who lives there. They love it and haven’t had any issues with their apartment.
