Hey everyone! Moved here a few weeks ago and still struggling to meet new people, was wondering if there's any place where 20-somethings often gather on the weekends or something.

A few things about me - if there's a scene involving one or more of these things I'd love to know

  • left leaning politically
  • love making music and going to concerts - rap, punk, just ab anything
  • vegan
  • board games
  • outdoors
  • climbing (been going to Zenith!)
  • longboarding
  • urban exploring
  • hitting up restaurants and the movies
  • open to new experiences, almost anything really

Thank you for your time. Moving to new places can definitely be isolating, hope to crawl out of that soon

My thought as well- just recommended this to another person! Never met such an awesome community as the DIYers. Great people and amazing music :))

Zenith has a great community! Go at times when there are lots of people climbing and people just start chatting while at the benches or start to talk about the climbs they are trying

Honestly this is great advice, already met a few people that way - nothing that's gone outside of climbing but still!

Meta Games has a large play area and usually have gatherings for board games that you can pop into. They have a schedule of events on their website. The staff from my experience is pretty helpful.

417 Tap house seems to have a younger crowd, food, drinks, game consoles hooked up, and board games to play.

Finding left-leaning people can be difficult, but the Greene Co Dem office is on Fremont/Sunshine and there might be volunteer opportunities. We have 3 dem state reps (Crystal Quade, Betsy Fogle, and Stephanie Hein) maybe they would be a good place to see if they need any volunteers? Left people are here-we just hide sometimes!!! Welcome! Glad you’re here!

The Flea. It’s the friendly neighborhood dive bar, and a bit of a watering hole for local musicians. Spend a night there and you’ll come out with a bunch of new friends.

If you like cycling, there are group rides in the evenings/on weekends. Casual rides on Friday with a club called 2frys that is perfect for socializing and getting used to group riding.

There's a karaoke bar on battlefield called Friends. On Wednesday nights (I think. It's once a week.) Before karaoke starts local musicians will get onstage and sing their own songs and tell the stories behind them. Also, karaoke is also a ton of fun, or you can play pool. I've met so many cool people there while deafening people with my horrific singing lol. Also, the Springfield Nature Center is a great way to get some exercise, enjoy the outdoors, and see some wildlife. It isn't exactly the best place to meet new people, but amazing for those days when you need to unwind and enjoy the outdoors.
