Hello r/springfieldMO! My dad passed away last week unexpectedly. I live out of town and had to return home to Kansas City before his obituary is being run in the Springfield News Leader today. It would really be nice to have a physical copy.

I know this is a big ask, but would anyone be willing to send me an envelope with his obituary from the paper in it? I’d be forever grateful. I don’t know anyone in Springfield who could send me a copy. DM me if this is something you can help with and I’ll give you the details. I’ll delete this post if/once someone helps out. Much appreciated!

ETA: looks like the obit was actually run yesterday!

Hey OP. I'm the editor at the News-Leader. Shoot me an email at abridges (at) news-leader.com with your address and I'll mail you a copy when I get back to the office (working at home this week with a deranged 6 yo while my daughter who I love very much is on spring break). I keep a small stash of recent papers for this exact scenario.

Would a photo copy work if I can't get the actual paper? Getting old newspapers can be a challenge. If it's not out yet, DM me the address and date it should run and I will happily send the physical copy

Awesome jttll. I’m waiting to hear back from the first commenter. If things fall through I’ll let you know. I really appreciate it. Also, after looking through the email the newspaper sent me confirming things, the obit was actually run yesterday…

I read the paper at my local gas station (if you check my profile I uploaded pics about the gender care bill from News Leader.)

I can grab a physical copy as soon as I get off work

Thanks for caring, u/Magnolia_Me . One expects to bury their folks at some point, but sometimes it happens sooner than anticipated. Hug your loved ones when you can, even those that are a pain in your rear most of the time. ♥️

Was about to suggest calling the news leader and asking them or the funeral home but realized they may not even do this anymore.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for yesterday's edition and grab it if I see one.

Very likely I can get you an actual copy of that section of the paper. Grandparents next door get daily paper.
