I just cleaned this Royal Quiet Deluxe to the best of my ability using compressed air and mineral spirits. It functions great, I’m looking forward to using it for my next novel/daily Journal, but I’d like someone with more experience than myself to have a crack at this thing. I want it to be as clean as it can get and the paper finger isn’t sitting flush on the platen for some reason.

Anyone know someone who tinkers with this sort of thing in our area? Thank you for any help offered!

I don't know any specific place, but if we had one here in SGF, it'd probably be up on the Northside somewhere. That's where the few craftsmen still have repair shops. Maybe one of them could either do it or point you in the right direction.

Try Moseley’s Office Supply, 431 South Ave. They’ve sold & serviced typewriters & such since 1941. 😊

I did a bit googling. This guys blog from Springfield apparently repairs typewriters, http://ibmselectric.blogspot.com/2019/07/springfield-mo-typewriter-repair.html

And as weird as it sounds you might talk to some sewing shops with in store repair guys. When I worked at one the repair guy was actually a retired machinist who could fix just about anything. Speaking of which some machinists shops might be good to call. Good Luck!

The Midtown Library has a Fix-It Fair on April 15. Someone there might be able to help.

No, but I wanted to comment that it is a beautiful machine. Just think how high-tech that was at one point.

Gorgeous. What a beauty! I wish I knew someone....there are probably services online you could ship it to for repair

It’s in very good shape for 1955. I’m trying to avoid having it shipped if at all possible. There are a lot of great repair shops on the west coast but I was hoping we might have a hermit genius somewhere here in the woodwork.

Do a search for "Royal Authorized Service Centers" There is one in Ft. Smith, Little Rock, and St. Louis. They could most likely help you.

That is fantastic! I just pulled out the Remington 1616 and wanted to know the same thing!
