I've been trying to remember the name of a record store from the mid-80s, and no one I know even remembers it at all. It was near Glenstone & Cherry, in that small strip center on the NW corner. I'm pretty sure this was during the same time that the 905 liquor store was the center's "anchor" (on the south end, where Kinney Amusements is now) and this record store was a little further down, possibly where Goodcents is now. I grew up NE of Cherry & Oak Grove, and would ride my bike up there after school to buy tapes with the money I saved by not eating lunch for two weeks; the only one I remember definitely buying there was a-ha's Hunting High and Low, which would've had to be either October or November 1985. (...and no, I'm not talking about Spin-Again.)

Wow, that name really takes me back :) I don't think that was it, though...wasn't BB&R at the NE corner of National & Cherry?

Yes, it was at National & Cherry. I just thought it might be the one OP was thinking of.

For some reason it's in my head as Bear Book and Sound. Now I'm questioning my memory

I grew up on Crutcher(Grand and Glenstone), and this seems familiar. But Iā€™m not sure I was getting out on my own much until ā€˜87 or ā€˜88, so it may have been gone by then.

Okay, so I looked up Bear Book and Records on the Missouri Secretary of State's website. It shows Bear Book and Record Store was formed 5/1/1974 with a business address of 538 S. National Ave - which would be at the corner of S. National and E. Cherry.
