I feel like the politics here with regards to development is a bunch of greedy developers vs a bunch of selfish NIMBYs.

Like the University Heights development: the Sunshine/National intersection is a TERRIBLE place to have a house because of all the traffic. (Source: Me. I lived two blocks from that intersection for three years.)

But also, the developers have ignored the neighborhood and just tried to bulldoze their way through.

Ugh.

Agreed. It’s prime real estate at one of the major intersections in the city. Of course it’s going to get developed. As you said the way developers and the city handled relations with the local neighborhood FUBARed the entire project before it even started.

Agree 100%. Development is useful, but a lot of the local developers are reaping the results of cheap, ugly, dumpy developments that they've sown throughout the city without regard to how they fit into the neighborhood.
