Hey! I’m looking for recommendations for a vision center that is cheap (under $100, if possible) for a prescription update appointment. I’m a student and don’t have insurance, but I’m needing to update my glasses/contacts prescription soon. TIA!

America's Best offers eye exams for $59, though it's $99 for a contact lens exam. They also offer a deal of two pairs of glasses and an eye exam for $89, though that exam is only for glasses and not contacts.

Stanton Optical has similar pricing with an exam for contacts being $99. They also offer a similar deal as AB for $79, but that exam also doesn't include contacts.

Stanton is garbage, When for an eye exam over the summer. They totally fucked up my script and they tried to suggest that my eyes just needed to adjust. I couldn't read the text on the door with the new glasses.

Oh geez. That's a pretty big fuck up. I've only been to America's best, and they were pretty good. The staff were nice and I haven't had any issues with prescription lenses from them.

The last time I went the person doing my eye exam was through telehealth — I was not confident that all went as it should.

Another vote for AB here. I found them a few years ago and I'm not going anywhere else.

Walmart does a $50 eye exam! Then I go online to eyebuydirect.com and buy frames and lenses! Total is around $100 with the glasses and exam.

Im no help on the contacts though

I like Eyemart express. Dr Kitchem there is good. I’ve recommend a friend there and he was also happy. I like Zenni for mail order glasses. I have a pair I wear more often than my much more expensive Gucci frames.

Eye glass world is worth checking out, they have nice-looking, cheap lenses. Stanton’s scheduling sucks ass but they have cheap frames and lenses. I paid $100 in total for new frames, lenses, and a prescription. Their selection for frames kinda sucks though. Eyeglass world has better selection. I’ve heard good things about using zennioptical.com but I don’t have any personal experiences with them.

Jordan Valley Community Health Centers offer vision services. I believe for other medical services, they do income-based sliding scale. May be the same for vision.
