Hi all, I’m moving to Springfield for work in the beginning of November. I went to Springfield a couple weeks ago and toured a few places, not bad but I’m not sold yet. I noticed a lot of for rent signs downtown but didn’t see any of those properties online. Any recommendations of small landlords or hidden gems in the area. I’ve seen all of TLC’s stuff but I wouldn’t mind renting from an individual instead. Seems like a lot of properties aren’t easily found on the internet in the area so I’m turning to the locals to point out any potential fits. I’m looking to stay under 1300 a month. I’d prefer a 1 bed or studio but would go to a 2 bed if I loved the deal. I could always use extra office space.

Are you looking on, like, zillow or apartment.com or are you looking "Springfield, MO Loft"?

If you google the latter, you'll get several results. It's All Downtown has a comprehensive list. But a lot of stuff downtown is student housing, too.

I’ve looked at all of those. Most of it is student housing. While in town there were a bunch of loft apartments that were not student housing. I’m touring a few but most aren’t online.

Don't rent from TLC. Just read their Google reviews. Downtown can be pretty loud too FYI.

I read there google reviews but it’s more likely someone will leave a review if they have a bad experience vs a good one.

If you search the posts in this sub about TLC properties you'll find avoiding them a good idea. What you need you're probably going to find in the Rountree neighborhood, Google Rountree neighborhood Springfield Missouri. Safe neighborhood, near restaurants and bars, and in your price range you'll find apartments and single family homes but a lot of landlords don't use media just a sign on the property.

Have you seen any for rent signs in that area? I’ve seen nothing online

As I said a lot of landlords in the neighborhood don't use media and I've not been over that way in a while. You might consider an Airbnb in the area until you can find something.

You're welcome, this is why I said you really have to drive around the neighborhood.

Well if you Google 65802 Springfield Missouri rentals you'll find a few online in the Rountree neighborhood. The S Delaware/Cherry Street area is going to have you near everything.

This looks like it might be a post about area ISPs because it contains the word internet. If so be sure to read past posts on the subject. They all basically say this: In Springfield your options are Mediacom, Att, and now Quantum Fiber (in limited areas).
