Was there for a thing last night and they had nothing. And because of that they have the whole bar is shutdown, so you can't even get like water or a coke.

"Rave" relative to Springfield

I’m not sure how old you are, but I was going to edm parties back in 2000 that lasted over night in abandoned warehouses and liquor less clubs, those were way closer to raves. But since it is 22 years later, you’re absolutely right. nothing is the same and I really do wish everyone could have experienced that time period.

Edit to add: you ever woke up the next day with black snot?

Yes, I've done underground raves many years ago including the ones that Springfield used to have in the warehouses under the Grant Street bridge near downtown as a teenager in the 2000s and the few that used to happen at Remington's downtown (RIP awesome venue). I do a few big festivals every year too. So getting Odyssey sold out on a Sunday night is as close as we are getting to a rave in Springfield these days.

I talked to the headliner DJ's tour manager last night and he was impressed we could sell out the venue. He was doubtful it would be busy and would keep us down to recommend to his counterparts for touring. Hopefully this can start to get us on the map for more acts to come through. Liquid Stranger is there in 3 weeks which is another huge get.

I was in no way trying to be bitchy with that comment if that’s how it came across. I’m sure we have crossed paths, though I prefer to remain anonymous for many reasons.

It’ll never NOT be funny to hear anything in Springfield called a rave, let alone one in a regular bar setting, and I will die on that hill.

I get it completely about the raves in Springfield. I’ll take what I can get without having to drive to KC or St. Louis and pretend it’s a rave.

If I was still in the scene, I’d do the same, homie. I’d do the same.

I’m not reading this and remembering walking to the old Houn Dog feed mill on water street after bars for parties/raves….

Is this where I get to do the hipster “you don’t know if you weren’t there” thing?

Yep I remember going to those. I also remember there were no bathrooms so you either peed outside or there was a pee “room”

Ah yes, the Pee Room.

I remember Danny Phillips (DJ P) sharing a 6er with me down there one night and I had no idea who he was until someone later saw a picture and said “that’s the guy who won some show on TV and is super famous.”

No idea, but he was really nice.
