No one has to go the speed limit. That's just the fastest you can drive. You know, like a limit.

Not so much. Our lights are timed in a way that you can hit mostly green lights by maintaining the speed limit. Going slower puts you out of the timing and increases the gap between cars. The second part is important because most intersections in this town only know when a car is at the intersection. Put too big of a gap in there and it thinks nobody is going to be crossing the intersection so it changes to red. And you've fucked everyone behind you.

Still doesn't mean you have to go that fast.

No you're right. We should: make driving as big of a pain in the ass as we can; burn more fuel than we have to; increase everyone's windshield time; etc. You're right!

Oh I get it, you're an extremes kind of person. There's a middle ground. People don't have to drive the way you want them too.

These patterns are very-well researched algorithms. So what we have is someone (you) thinking you're smarter than the mathematicians that figured all of this out.

I'm saying let people drive how they want. I'm not claiming to be smarter than anyone. Though it seems you are by letting me know you've researched algorithms.
