I did it for a while last year. When it’s good, it’s great—I often averaged over $20/hr and a few times did $50/hr. When it’s bad, it’s dead—like either no orders at all or just bad ones that you should skip.

I’d say it’s worth a try. Start with like a Friday night or during a Chiefs game, when more people will order.

As far as safety goes, you’ll go into a lot of apartment complexes and trailer parks. I generally felt safe, but I’m a big guy. You might want to start during daylight hours to see how you feel.

I mean yeah, it is safe, just mostly in the south area at night. But the money is trash so.

My suggestion is to not focus on one platform. Sign up for all the food delivery platforms. Also look at grocery delivery and Amazon flex. As far as safety I’ve heard a couple of instances of a man opening his front door with nothing on but a smile. Both times the police took care of business. Never heard of anything physical.

I'm a woman that's done some doordash and uber. I found doordash to be a little more worth my time and effort. Sometimes I was making $17-18/hr, sometimes it was barely $10. Best times are weekend evenings and lunch time. Not worth trying to do a shift through the afternoon or morning hours. Just catch those rushes. As far as safety, I delivered to some of the sketchier parts of town but never once was made to feel unsafe. Never had any incident. Of course mileage may vary with the safety aspect, my experience may not be yours.
